Fiber Internet Is Coming to More Riverton Neighborhoods

ABOUT THE PROJECT IN RIVERTON, WY

Visionary is expanding into five zones across Riverton. Construction is underway, with a target to complete the project by the end of November. 

The five zones run east to west from the N. Smith Road area to Central Wyoming College, and north to south from the Walmart area to the E. Monroe Avenue area.

Work begins with construction and splicing, followed by service drops and customer installations. Main lines are buried 18 to 24 inches deep, and drops are buried 6 to 12 inches deep. If you see vehicles labeled Black Hills Trenching and Boring, they are part of our team and supporting this project.  

Once construction is complete, we perform restoration throughout the project zones. This includes landscaping, sprinkler repair, asphalt repair and concrete repair to return affected areas to their original condition.

An easement is a permanent right that gives a person or party permission to use another person’s land or property for a specific purpose, generally for utilities. Visionary uses these areas to build and maintain the fiber-optic network. Easements may include the area between the sidewalk and street, as well as designated portions of a landowner’s property.

Visionary understands the disruption our fiber installation can cause. This is temporary and we will move as quickly and safely as we can.  Visionary makes every effort to leave your property as we found it once construction is complete.

FIBER CONSTRUCTION GUIDE

As we expand our fiber network, you may notice our crews and equipment in your area. Here's what to expect as we bring fast and reliable fiber internet to your door.

DESIGN

Our fiber teams collaborate with contractors and community officials to design the most efficient fiber path utilizing approved easements. We ensure everything we do is safe, marked, and meets or exceeds local requirements.

CONSTRUCTION

Next, conduit and fibers routes will be marked with cones, paint, and flags. Depending on the utility networks on your property, our crews may run the fiber underground or above ground on nearby powerlines. If digging is required, our crews will use a boring machine. We will restore any property disruptions once construction is complete.

TESTING

Fiber splicers will visit each location and fuse individual strands, prepping them for connection and testing each line to ensure they running at the speed of light!
