Visionary Broadband is expanding its fiber internet network to residents in Wheatland, creating 312 new available connections that can deliver up to 5-gigabit internet speeds. This expansion strengthens Visionary’s presence in the community, complementing its existing network, which currently serves area businesses, schools and nearby towns.
The expansion into residential areas east of the middle school and northeast of the Platte County Memorial Hospital will be completed this month. Homes with access to the expanded network will have the opportunity to choose a faster, more reliable internet network through Visionary.
“Delivering fiber to businesses and schools is one piece of a larger digital future for Wheatland, which is why we are investing further to reach families at home,” said Brian Worthen, CEO of Visionary Broadband. “Visionary’s reliable, high-speed fiber creates a level playing field for Wheatland businesses, as well as home users.”
Jim Mathis, owner and CEO of Wyoming Technical Institute, has spent years leading a program that prepares students for careers as automotive and diesel technicians. He shares the goal of strengthening the region’s workforce and setting the area up for long-term employment and economic success.
“Expanding reliable internet access gives our community a leg up in the increasingly digital world,” said Mathis. “This project goes beyond receiving faster internet. It’s building infrastructure that will keep local businesses competitive and strengthen remote work opportunities, a key part of our local economic growth.”
The project reflects Visionary’s larger mission of bringing high-speed fiber across the West, constructing future-proof networks that will keep communities like Wheatland connected for generations to come.
