What is Voice over IP (VoIP)

What is Voice over IP? Voice Over IP is phone service over a broadband internet connection. Instead of paying for a phone line, you can just pay for an internet connection and VoIP service. This can save you money.
With VoIP you can still have caller ID, use fax machines, have voice mail and many other stardard features depending on your VoIP carrier. Many carriers also offer multiple phone lines with their VoIP service.
Local and out-of-town numbers are avilible with VoIP as well (depending on avilibility and the carrier).
