Thanks for the help. The steps were not necessary, but after reading your instructions which had allot of valuable information, I simply did a search of all the names, mediapipe, movieland, p2p and removed the documents. Stupid Movieland is gone, what a pain in the arse.

My work computer had the movieland pop up on that asked for payment for it to be removed. I tried everthing to get it off and that dang pop up still came back. I went to google to see if there were programs to get rid of it, of course the first few places I visited wanted money to have them remove it, your site were easy to follow and got rid of the problem fast and easy, best of all it was free. Thank you very much.

Thanks for all the help, especially with removing itbill when it tells you it can't be deleted because another programme is using it. Another folder in programme files to look out for is fsupport It has files such as "kate," the dumb blonde girl whose stupid face flashes up on the screen randomly to tell you all about movielands' "services". Delete this file too.

Thank you!!!
I had already done most of what you guys did to remove the
movieland pile from my computer, except for the final step. The add remove programs would not let me delete the Notification Utility. it kept redirecting me to the movieland site. Obviously some portions of this pile had found a hiding place in the Programs folder. After deleting it, dumping the recycler bin, returning to Add/Remove it finally gave up and went away (flush, swirl and bye bye). Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. The only reason I did not add an email address is that I'm so paranoid now that I wouldn't put it past these heeps to do thier normal stinking best to send out yet another turd. And dump you bin again right away!!! Happy New Year!

I followed the steps last night to remove movieland, and it appears to have worked. NOTE: I ALSO WENT INTO COOKIES AND DELETED ALL, AND CLEARED HISTORY ON INTERNET BROWSER.

How to remove cookies
Replying to Stephanie above:
From the Tools menu (for the old version 4, the View menu), select Internet Options. Then in the "Temporary Internet Files" section, click the Delete Cookies button. That's it!
While you're in here cleaning things out, you may want to also click the Delete Files button. Put a checkmark by "Delete all offline content", then click OK. You may get the hourglass and have to wait as long as several minutes.

Get back at them
I spent a lot of time trying to find contact info for Movie land.
It says mail to Digital Enterprises, which doesn't exist. BUT using mapquest and the address, I found a company at the same location called Oomph Enterprises....with a rather evasive answering service. If you feel like tormenting them back, give them a call...or two...or three. (When a party receives a call on a toll-free number, they pay a charge, usually from $.30 to $1.00. A few hundred thousand calls later...)
1-866-231-5359

I HATE MOVIELAND....... PLEASE HELP ME?
I was getting those pop-ups & I couldn't do anything about them. I just recently learned about the scam, but I put it on my credit card. I have not paid my bill yet but I was just wondering if there is anyway I can get my money back. I did not agree to the terms and conditions, I did not accept a 3 day trial & I did not download any software!!!!! I read the terms and conditions today & in there it says "IF YOU ARE UNDER 21 YEARS OF AGE AND LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES, YOU MAY NOT DOWNLOAD, INSTALL OR USE THE APPLICATION OR THE SERVICES." I am under 21 so I can't download, install or use the application or the services. Why was I receiving these pop-ups saying "I had to pay because my free trial was up" & I'm not even allowed to access it? I don't know if you can do anything but please help me if you can! Thank you!

blasted movieland
i would like to say a massive thankyou for helping me get rid of the blasted movieland. i have tried everthing and this was my last hope! i have read the comments below from the movie land people, and i can assure them and you i DID not enter into any agreement with them at all. i would also like to add that you apparantly get this 'thing' on a 3 day free trial period after which you are 'legally' tied in. it is very convenient that only on the FOURTH day the pop ups start invading you - so you don't know ANYTHING about it until it is too late!!
would like to say i wish i had come to your site first..all the people who have logged comments on here are not liars and we did not subscribe to this rubbish..someone should take out a law suit against them! Thanks again. Lorraine xx

thank you so much!
I actually love you! I was getting so frustrated about these popups, every time I heard that music start again I just felt like crying! No-one in my family seemed to know who had agreed to these 'terms' that seem to be non-existent unless you visit the movieland website, like I did, trying to find out what the hell it was! I didn't feel this violated even when my home was broken into, at least then you know you can call the police on the criminal.
Incidently although 'kate' informed me of my legal obligation to pay up....in the terms on the website, was it just me or was there no mention of any 'obligation to pay' or how much if you didn't want to continue using whatever it is? This is a quote from the site:
BY PARTICIPATING IN THE MOVIELAND / MEDIAPIPE FREE TRIAL OFFER THE MEDIAPIPE SOFTWARE WILL ENABLE YOU TO ACCESS THE AVAILABLE CONTENT FOR THE PERIOD OF TIME THAT SPECIFIED ON THE ADVERTISMENT YOU HAVE CLICKED THROUGH.
but if you can't access any further content, then you haven't used the mediapiipe services beyond the 'free' trial period. if it is as they say a 'free 3day trial, then you don't have to pay for the 3days this rubbish was on your system without you knowing it! the rest of the 'what it does section reads:
IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE PAYMENT INFORMATION DURING THE TRIAL PERIOD OUR BILLING SOFTWARE WILL BE ENABLED UPON THE EXPIRATION OF YOUR TRIAL PERIOD. THE BILLING SOFTWARE WILL RUN ON YOUR COMPUTER, DISPLAYING POP-UP WINDOW REMINDERS THAT PROVIDE YOU WITH VARIOUS METHODS OF PAYMENT FOR THE ANNUAL LICENSE. THESE POP-UP WINDOWS WILL APPEAR MORE FREQUENTLY UNTIL YOU CHOOSE ONE OF THE PAYMENT OPTIONS AND PAY FOR THE LICENSE. THE BILLING SOFTWARE IS SOLELY DESIGNED TO PREVENT FRAUDULENT AND UNAUTHORIZED USE OF THE MEDIAPIPE SOFTWARE.
If it's sole purpose is to prevent fraud, you don't have to pay because you are not intending to use their software either fraudulently or legitimately, surely! It really is like holding your computer to ransom, but thanks to your wonderful site, (which I found, like others by google-ing 'Movieland con/scam') I managed to get rid of that horrible, cruel crap. Anyhoo, I've ranted long enough! So I'll finish again by saying 'thank you sooo much and if I wasn't a student I would completely bung u a tenner! And also say that creeps like the scumsucking pussbuckets at movieland (and that's not libel!) should be drowned in a bathtub of their own excrement and I hope they all die a horrible painful death. cheers!xxxxxx

scum @ movieland
tried all the fixes you listed and so far not back ! thank you ! as to the phone number of 1.866.231.5359 this is a toll free number for the company who does "customer service" for digital enterprises who i believe is the parent co of "movieland". i personally have called this number 5 times today to chat with whomever answers about anything they will chat about. since this is a toll free the cost is on them, i would encourage ALL THE POOR SUCKERS THAT HAVE THEIR CRAP ON THEIR COMPUTERS, LIKE MYSELF, to give them several calls a day, to discuss the weather, preferences in after shaves, perfumes, or any other inane subject. perhaps the flood of calls and expense will not break them, but will go a long way to making you feel better after the "crap" from them is removed from your computer. i know i feel better since i wasted thier time today !

I hate Movieland!
I was getting so frustrated trying to remove this stupid Movieland pop up. As if having to look at that ugly blonde Ho-bag Kate wasn't bad enough. Not being able to contact these crooks made it even worse. We tried everything to remove it and even almost considered paying them in order to get this crap off my computer. Movieland has got some nerve to legally threaten you after accidentally signing up for a "free trial." I don't know who or how this crap got on my computer. I just want to thank you so much for providing this article. It was a great help and I appreciate that your site provides effective and easy information to rid our computers of this movieland garbage. Thanks again!

Well moveiland.com may be you are doing good job. But its a burden after 3 days if we could not find this kind of article. In anyway ... we need to pay or format if we don't get help like this. there should be an option to uninstall via movieland.com if its a trial for 3 days. WHY DO YOU MAKE US PAY ANYWAY? All the options you have takes us to tha last option which is to PAY you. This is simply not fair.

You're the BEST!!
I made the mistake of not reading the agreement and installed Media pipe several months ago. I got the Movieland popups with days! When I checked it out, it said my trial peroid had expired and now I had to pay if I wanted to stop the popups. So I did. Well they statred up just a couple of hours ago and I KNOW I have not had anything to do with Movieland or Media Pipe on it. Your article helped me step by step to remove a program that got access to my computer. I have ZoneAlarm Pro on my computer and I made the mistake of giving P2PNetworks permission (thinkig it was PS2) this morning and that is when my problem started. I've also had problems with my computer running slow and Hanging when I've tried to close or go to another program. After removing all the files connected to Movieland, my computer seems to be running back at normal speed. Thank YOU SO much for making this information available.

THANK GOD
I am sooooo happy this thing is finally gone...I hope and pray. It hasn't came back yet...but it was annoying me big time. I do alot of work on my computer. I couldn't even focus on my essay I was typing cause Kate kept popping up. I started to do my taxes online and towards the end it popped up and exited my taxing program....I was so pissed. That's when I did a search and found this wonderful site. I downloaded ewido-anti-malware and it has worked so far cause Kate hasn't popped up yet. I wonder if she has ever seen these comments about her.

Removing Movieland forever - hopefully
It all worked - especially after doing what JackDragon (December 26, 2005 at 9:57am) suggested about other programmes running. Brilliant advice all in all - and didn't have to go into safe mode at all.
Has movieland.com legal dept. actually done anything yet vis-a-vis an "emergency temporary restraining order"....? What c**p. How on earth can they claim any justification whatsoever for what they're doing. Hope they get far more adverse publicity..!!
Note from John:
No, we altered the article slightly, and as far as I know they haven't contacted us since. They may have emailed the company president further, but they have stopped emailing me anyway.

Another option I used until I could get rid of the files was to load and run Mozilla's Firefox browser. Looks like Movieland might be hooked into IE specifically. Don't know if Netscape would obviate the popups, but Firefox does.

Movieland no more!
Our deepest appreciation to you John Wiltbank. The removal instr. seems to have worked fine, and we cannot begin to thank you enough. You restore my faith in humanity again. You wanted nothing in return but the simple pleasure of helping people in distress. We applaud you sir. As for the dispicable people who created this situation for so many people---- SHAME you leeches that suck the spirit and trust from good people, through treachery and deceipt, then defend yourself with a legal technicality knowing that your "RUN" boxes look exactly like the ones you can trust. I have reported this to Canadian authorities and they in turn are in touch with USA authorities. I really hope that you receive the same consideration from them as you have shown us!!!
If people decide to band together-- God help you. Power to the people!

Thank you so much for the tutorial on how to remove MOVIELAND from my PC.
Still not sure where it came from or HOW it suddenly appeared but even after only having the pop ups on my computer for 2-3 days...I was at my wits end. It was becoming impossible to do my class work.
Your instructions were very comprehensive, making it simple to navigate thru the "inner" stuff of the computer I know NOTHING about!!!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Thanks so much for your instruction--so far, so good. Movieland.com's threats are pretty funny! I expect to hear on the news any day of their scam. Any half-way intelligent person can figure out that Movieland.com has invaded people's computer at knifepoint with their unreasonable demands (and easy-out of $20). They prey on underage teens and their impatient parents who just want the invasive and irritating message to "go away". AND you can't get to anyone through their website, not even their so-called customer service link (which doesn't work, any which way you try). Hmmm.....I wonder why? I'm glad I found your site!

Legal Action?
Hi folks! I just got that same annoying message from Kate again a second ago. I need to get rid of her. I haven't tried any of the steps here yet, though, given their apparent success, I'm sure they will work just fine. I was just wondering if any of you who have removed MovieLand without ever paying them a cent have ever been threatened (after saying goodbye to Kate, that is) with some sort of action to collect or possibly sue. This seems like such an unbelievable scam, and yet, apparently, they do have some legal backing. Has anyone had to suffer at the hands of MovieLand after deleting it, or is it really goodbye and good riddance?
Thanks!

I am sooo relieved! I was trying to figure out how to get rid of those jokers without paying tons of moolah. Easy removal. I didn't find the files you named, but instead found MyAccessMedia in my C:/ drive, so you guys may want to be on the lookout for that one. The movieland pop up told me the download (that never happened) occurred on Feb 13, and I saw the MyAccessMedia had been downloaded the same day... I hardly ever DL anything.... Thanks again!

I GOT SUED!
I deleted the software like you said. Movieland sued me! I think they secured my address from my internet provider and they filed a claim against me in small claims court. The judge ordere me to pay the annual license fee plus their court costs (in California). Over $200! I didn't pay it but somehow they were able to get the money from my paycheck (garnishing my wages). The day I was in court there were about 10 other people there and they all lost too. The attorney said that there are law firms all over the country preparing to file similar suits. Nobody from Movieland even had to show up! I am so pissed! You should tell your other customers that this could happen to them. They should know before they just follow your directions and think they are done.
Note from John:
Sorry to say this, but I seriously doubt your story. Are you by chance a Movieland employee trying to frighten people into paying your fees? Yeah, I thought so.

Please cease your idiotic postings
Dear Movieland.Com Legal Department,
Real lawyers, in the real world, would never have dreamed of coming up with such an asanine posting. No lawyer worth his salt would sign something "Movieland.Com Legal Department". No lawyer with a brain would actually consider this an effective or legal way of serving notice.
Consequently, by the atuhority vested in me by the self-appointed powers I so decree...your posting is deemed as idiotic and under Regulatory Actions #72 by this body should be removed immediately.
Sincerely,

Joy, the same exact thing has happened to me. Amazing! They'll stop at nothing to interrupt me and bother me on the computer, but, I'm still wondering, has anyone experienced this dumping over into "real" life. That is, has MovieLand ever come to collect or filed suit? Do they have their money-collectors where there mouth is?
BTW, I went throught the steps above, and it worked like a charm. No need for safe mode, either. Haven't seen Kate in days!

here's the contact number for movieland
someone else posted what they thought was the phone number for these scammers. The name of the company that owns Movieland is AccessMedia Software Inc. Their toll free phone number is 1 866 431 7724. I don't know why i bothered to call them, i knew they wouldn't help me. I asked the receptionist if she was able to sleep at night knowing she works for a disgusting company that rips people off. I must've stunned her into silence. I asked her again and she said she sleeps fine. I'm sure if other people who have been duped call her she won't be sleeping 'fine' for much longer. Thank you, Visionary, for your help on this.

Help
Thank you so much! My gorgeous brother normally sorts my computer out for me, but he is away at present. I tried typing in "movieland" and got a couple of "free" downloads which identified it but then asked me for money to do the getting rid..........call me cynical, but I couldn't help wondering if they are connected to movieland! One is called Spyware Doctor, and the other is through paretologic?
Your article is fantastic, clear and exceptionally easy to follow for non-techies like me, and ( I'm touching wood as it is still only half an hour since I did it!) it appears to have worked! I will forward your web address to any of my friends who are affected by this awful monstrosity.

Thanks so very much for the info
I have to disagree with the Movieland.com company about their program not being infectious. The PC's that were affected by the bothersome program were office PC's and they became infected on a Saturday when the office was closed. I had tried everything to get rid of that pop up and nothing was working. I just completed the steps that were instructed and read the feedback from others and I am confident that there will be no further bother from this company.
Thanks so very much,

Hello all. I too have been bothered by Movieland. Per the directions above, I removed Movieland in the middle of February and was finally free of them....or so I thought. These instructions were great. If anyone wants to know more info about these sites just go to Register.com and type in their web address in "Whois". It will give an address and phone number of the party that registered the domain name. The phone number for MoviePass.tv based in London is 800-295-7627. Movieland.com is based in Woodland Hills, CA. Phone number there is 866-431-7724. People like this deserve every bad thing that happens to them.

P.S. Additional note...if you can't find all the files, do a google search ffor "Spybot Search & Destroy" and "AdAware SE Personal". Both are free to download and will help to clear the problem files.

I had gotten onto Symantec's website trying to lookup how to get rid of this garbage. I couldn't find it listed there. My dad called the Geek Squad and they wanted over $200 to fix it! Glad I found you!
I finally typed 'movieland' into yahoo's search engine and got some 270,000 hits on how to REMOVE it! You were at the top of the list.
ConsumerAffairs.com has a little article on the jerks at movieland too. www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/01/movieland.html (This article is mentioned at the end.)
Thanks again, it was easier than I thought to get rid of. I just didn't know all the names it goes by.

Movieland/Moviepass invasion
My pc was invaded by Moviepass.tv back in February.
Naturally my children were suspect of ordering something that they shouldn't have. Additionally, this annoying popup with the message from a blonde who insisted the only way to get rid of "Unlimited entertainment" through moviepass - was to pay for it.
No way .....
I almost fell for it just to get rid of it and assumed the kids ordered it. However, the time stamp of alleged software installation was at a time of day No One was home. I did a little more research to find out that I was not the only one who has been infected with unlawful marketing !!!!
I followed your step by step directions, however, not all of the files were downloaded to my system. None the less, I deleted what I had & so far I have not had a repeat perfomance.
To you, a world of thanks ... to my kids, sorry !!!!

Removing Kate from MovieLand
Anytime you want, you can view miss Kate. The fsupport folder under Program Files is where she lives. Just an FYI. Thanks John for all the help. PS for MovieLand "Legal." - Try requiring an email address or credit card number when giving people a 3-day pass. Hiding software and making account cancellation difficult just so happens to upset people - go figure.

I followed the procedures in your post (by the way, thanks!) to get rid of Moviepass.tv. Not all of the files were the same, but the methods seem to work nonetheless. I found an extra folder named Notify with a single .exe in it also named Notify that would not let me delete it. I followed your Safe Mode technique and was successful in getting rid of it. I suspect this is a morph of Moviepass.tv you may want to pass along. Again, thanks for your help, its always encouraging to find good people out there!

movieland pile from my computer, except for the final step. I got up to the step notification utility and there was to of them in my add/remove. When I try to delete the first one
it redirects me to the movieland web page with instuctions to remove. I really don't trust movieland so I don't want to follow their steps. Has this happed before?
How do I proceed?
Thank you

Removing Movieland appears to have worked
I followed the steps last night to remove movieland, and it appears to have worked. NOTE: I ALSO WENT INTO COOKIES AND DELETED ALL, AND CLEARED HISTORY ON INTERNET BROWSER.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH VISIONARY. I was truely stressed and scared about the lenghts and possible costs associated with ridding my computer of these scum. thank you.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is

How to remove cookies
From the Tools menu (for the old version 4, the View menu), select Internet Options. Then in the "Temporary Internet Files" section, click the Delete Cookies button. That's it!
While you're in here cleaning things out, you may want to also click the Delete Files button. Put a checkmark by "Delete all offline content", then click OK. You may get the hourglass and have to wait as long as several minutes.

Get back at them
It says mail to Digital Enterprises, which doesn't exist.
1-866-231-5359
or non-toll-free: 1-818-734-0930.
Thanks for speed dial and a spare hour or two!!!!

For those who cannot get rid of itbill.exe, which is where i got hung up, someone typed this:
Ctrl+alt+delete , then under Processes, scroll down to itbill.exe and click to end the process. then it is easy to delete it from the program files. worked like a charm.

February 7, 2006 at 7:09pm
thank you so much!

Please cease your idiotic postings
Real lawyers, in the real world, would never have dreamed of coming up with such an asanine posting. No lawyer worth his salt would sign something "Movieland.Com Legal Department". No lawyer with a brain would actually consider this an effective or legal way of serving notice.
Consequently, by the atuhority vested in me by the self-appointed powers I so decree...your posting is deemed as idiotic and under Regulatory Actions #72 by this body should be removed immediately.
Sincerely,
Global Enforcement Bureau

I'M NOT ALONE!!
