Problem Setting the Internet up on Windows 2000 Professional.
Solution The steps below will walk you through setting up the internet for Visionary on Windows 2000 Professional.
Setup for Dialup Access
- Click Start
- Click Settings
- Click Control Panel
- Open Network and Dial-up Connections
- Open Make New Connection
- New Connection Wizard
- Network Connection Type
- Click "Dial-Up to the Internet" (the second item)
- Click Next
- Internet Connection Wizard
- Click "I want to set up my Internet connection manually" (the third
item). If it is not giving you this choice, you may have upgraded
Internet Explorer. In that case follow the instructions here, from step 6 or 7 onward, to get through the wizard.
- Click Next
- Setting up your Internet Connection
- Click "I connect through a phone line and a modem"
- Click Next
- Internet Account Connection Information
- Uncheck "Use Area Code and Dialing Rules"
- Telephone Number: xxx-xxxx (Your Visionary Dial-Up Number)
- Click Advanced
- Advanced Connection Properties
- Click Addresses
- Skip IP Address
- Click "Internet service provider automatically provides one"
- DNS Server Address
- Click "Always use the following"
- Primary DNS server: 209.193.72.2
- Alternet DNS server: 209.193.68.2
- Click Ok
- Click Next
- Internet Account Logon Information
- Username: xxxxx (Your Visionary Username)
- Password: xxxxx (Your Visionary Password)
- Click Next
- Configuring Your Computer
- Connection Name: Visionary or VCN
- Click Next
- Set Up Your Internet Mail Account
- Click No (If you need to set up email it can be done afterwards)
- Click Next
- Completing the Internet Connection Wizard
- Uncheck "To connect to the Internet Immediately"
- Click Finish
- Inside Network and Dial-Up Networking
- Right Click Visionary (what you named the connection)
- Click Create Shortcut
- When Prompted Click Yes
- Close out of all opened Windows
This should setup your dialup for Visionary and setup a connection
on the desktop that you can use to connect to the internet with.
