Clearing the address bar
Sorry, but your "how-to" is just plain wrong. Address bar and History list are two separate things, and you can clear the History list until you're blue in the face, but you still will have the address bar entries.

Clearing the address bar (advanced)
There is a way to remove typed URLs from the address bar. Bear in mind that it is quite advanced and gives the user the ability to really mess up their machine. Here's some brief instructions on how to do it:
1. Go to start > run
2. Type regedit
3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Internet Explorer > TypedURLs
4. Remove the keys that you do not want to see on your address bar. Do not remove the (Default) key however.
PLEASE NOTE: It is very dangerous to delete entries from the system registry. If you are unsure on a particular entry, consult a computer geek. Modifying the registry can result in system failure, so do so only if you have detailed instructions, know how the registry works and how the programs use it, or if you don't really care if your system crashes.

Removing individual address bar entries from Firefox 1.0x
Tony, thanks for your suggestion. Here's another for those using Firefox:
Highlight the one you want to delete with your mouse (but don't click on it) and then just press Shift-Delete. Tada!
