 Howie Hold is a service that allows you to see incoming callers on your computer while you are online with a dialup connection. Essentially, it is call waiting for your computer.  Normally, if you are online and someone calls you, they receive a busy signal. You don't know the caller is trying to reach you, and the caller doesn't know when they will get through to you. With Howie Hold, the caller places the call to you, and you can see who is calling when a window displays their number right on your computer. You can call that person from another line at your location or even put your dialup connection on hold and take the call. Howie Hold accepts calls for you when they are forwarded from your phone line to a central server. Once forwarded, the call information is displayed on your computer. Depending on your level of service, you can also receive messages from the caller right to your computer or put your internet connection on hold while you take the call. |  |  There are three levels of service for Howie Hold: Caller ID - FREE Caller ID is included with all Visionary dialup accounts free of charge. With the Caller ID feature, a window displays an incoming call. You can review the number and decide if you want to drop the connection and return the call. Voice mail while online - $3.95/mo Voice mail while online is an upgrade of Caller ID that allows callers to leave a one-minute message for you while you are still online. You can then review the Caller ID and listen to the message while you are online, allowing you to decide if you want to drop the connection and return the call. You can record your own 30-second personal greeting. Dialup hold, take call - $7.95/mo Dialup hold allows you to take the call while you are still online, interrupting your dialup connection for up to 10 minutes to take the call. Caller ID displays, and the caller can record a three-minute message for you. Dialup hold also allows you to block telemarketers. You can record your own 30-second personal greeting.  Howie Hold needs you to have Call Forward when Busy on your phone line. This is automatically added to most phone lines during the signup process for Howie Hold. There may be extra charges from the phone company for Call Forward when Busy. Please call your phone company to confirm. If you use Voice Mail with Qwest, adding Call Forward when Busy will cancel the Voice Mail service.
